My name is Kelechi Eke, and I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Human Rights and Social Justice, with an interest in Indigenous Ways of Knowing and Pedagogies. My academic journey is rooted in a deep commitment to social equity, community empowerment, and the pursuit of justice for marginalized groups.
I am from Nigeria, where I grew up in an environment where violence and marginalization were rampant. These realities shaped my early understanding of injustice and deepened my passion for human rights and advocacy.
I hold degrees in Finance and Banking and have worked for over 16 years in the Nigerian banking sector. While this experience strengthened my skills in problem-solving, leadership, and financial systems, it also exposed me to the barriers many communities face in accessing resources. These encounters inspired me to shift my focus toward advocacy, social justice, and community development.
What drew me to my current studies is my passion for bridging inequalities, particularly the challenges faced by Indigenous peoples and marginalized communities. My volunteer work, both in my local community and within church initiatives, has helped me recognize the importance of inclusion, dignity, and human rights.
Through my studies and professional growth, I hope to:
- Develop strategies to dismantle financial barriers and improve access to resources.
- Support reconciliation and decolonization efforts by amplifying Indigenous perspectives.
- Build a career in behavioral intervention and advocacy, where I can work directly with individuals and communities to foster meaningful change.
This e-portfolio serves as a reflection of my journey—past experiences, current learning, and future aspirations. It showcases my research, professional development, and personal growth, while highlighting my dedication to making a positive impact in society.
